Sagittaria subulata (dwarf strain): natural ground cover for aquarium
A robust carpeting plant without CO2
The Sagittaria subulata dwarf strain is an ideal ground cover plant for natural aquariums, even low-tech. With its fine ribbon-shaped leaves emerging from the plant’s center, our strain generally does not exceed 5 to 10 cm in height, making it a perfect choice for the foreground or to create an aquatic meadow effect.
Undemanding, it easily grows in simple sand, without the need for technical substrate or CO2. It multiplies by lateral runners, allowing it to form a natural and dense carpet. Also consider it for your nano tanks where it will do wonderfully.
A perfect solution to create a natural aquatic meadow effect, without the constraints of classic carpeting plants.
Why choose the dwarf strain of Sagittaria?
- Controlled size: perfect for the foreground
- Does not compete with other plants

- Suitable for low-tech aquariums
- Fast natural reproduction by runners
- No CO2 or technical substrate requirements
Planting and growth tips
- 🌱 Plant in small groups of 3 to 5 spaced clumps
- 🏖️ Simple substrate sufficient: plain sand
- 💧 Very tolerant regarding water parameters
- ☀️ Optimal growth under medium light
- 🔄 Easy propagation by dividing the clumps
- ❄️ Our strain withstands winter outdoors if the bottom does not freeze
