A small, unassuming snail that loves algae and is therefore a good cleaner. Very active during the day, it is interesting to watch and readily reproduces.

Bladder snails are, along with pond snails, the most widespread snails in our waterways and ponds.
Unlike pond snails, bladder snails do not attack living plants, which makes them preferable in aquariums.
These snails should not be collected from the wild for one simple reason: they can host certain parasite life cycles involving fish and could therefore contaminate your aquarium inhabitants. Several generations of breeding without fish are needed to break these parasite cycles.
Apart from this point, the bladder snail is a charming little snail that is active during the day, small in size, and very prolific when conditions allow.
Its only serious predator is the glossiphonia, a harmless little leech that we offer to limit its population when it becomes invasive.
Bladder snails do an important cleaning job, particularly by consuming algae from aquarium glass, but also incidentally by making fish carcasses and various other dead creatures disappear. When algae are present, they proliferate, and their numbers decline when the environment becomes poorer in algae. They are therefore an excellent indicator.
There is therefore no need to feed them, since the biological cycle as it is provides everything they need.
They are hermaphrodites, meaning they have both sexes, but they need two individuals to reproduce.
Unlike malaysian Trumpet Snail, bladder snails also breathe atmospheric air at the surface. They therefore regularly come to the surface to breathe.
They are comfortable both outdoors and indoors, even during winter in severe frost.
