Brown Ramshorn snail

The ramshorn snail is a magnificent aquatic snail of good size. We offer it with its brown shell (wild type).

This snail has been a staple of aquariums for decades, if not longer.
Adults can reach a fairly respectable size, sometimes 2 to 3 cm in diameter.
It is a snail whose shell forms a flattened disc, hence its name, and it is mostly active during the day. You can easily admire it moving over plants, glass, and decorations.
It is a snail that respects plants, which it generally does not harm.
It feeds mainly on animal and plant waste, algae, and the bacterial biofilm that covers all submerged surfaces.
It takes many months to reach adult size, but it can reproduce once it reaches about 5 mm.
This species is hermaphroditic but needs to mate to reproduce. It then lays its eggs on a hard surface: a leaf, glass, or stone.
Ramshorn snails have no special requirements, which is why their distribution is worldwide. Resistant to winter, they can be introduced into outdoor ponds.
We offer ramshorn snails in three colors:
