Introduction and usage tips
- Place the Zolla'Clear XL in the tank or pond and introduce the supplied daphnia.
- If needed (too restless fish, current...), fix it on a support (glass, wire, stake, sturdy plant stem...) with a clip for example.
- Let it act: the daphnia gradually filter the green water until transparency returns. They reproduce, the older ones die and lay the next generation.
- The time required varies depending on the intensity of the green water, volume, number of daphnia, temperature, light, etc. Usually between a few days and several weeks.
- Close the chain: once the water is clear again, take daphnia to feed the fish.
- Reuse: store the Zolla'Clear XL. In case of recurrence, order only the ZollaBox Clear Water XL refill (new daphnia) and start again.
FAQ - ZollaBox Clear Water XL
How long does it take for the water to become clear again?
Depending on the algae density and volume, the improvement is progressive: the daphnia work continuously until the water becomes clear again. You can generally expect a few weeks, sometimes less.
Do the daphnia survive with the fish?
They are protected inside the Zolla'Clear XL. Outside the device, fish eat them (this is planned to close the chain at the end). If the fish are too vigorous and restless, just fix the Zolla'Clear XL with a simple clip (clothespin...) to a solid fixed point (glass, sturdy plant stem...). They will not be able to overturn it!
Can the box be reused?
Yes: it is reusable. Store it carefully after use, and simply take a refill to put daphnia back if it needs to be used again.
Difference with a chemical anti-algae product?
No toxicity, no microbial imbalance, nor water changes because a mass of algae was killed at once. This is the biological way. Algae are transformed into live daphnia, not into dead waste that heavily pollutes the aquarium. No plant suffers.
Does it also work in ponds?
Yes, the planktonic logic applies in aquariums as well as in ponds.
