(set of 50 alder cones)

The alder cone, the secret of the amber and acidic waters of Amazonian aquariums, promotes the spawning and survival of fish and shrimp...

The alder cone is glutinous, resembling a tiny and fine pine cone, is actually a non-resinous "strobile."
The alder pushes its roots into the water, on the banks of rivers and streams. It is closely linked to aquatic environments.
Its branches hang over the water and its fruits thus drop the seeds which, floating and at the mercy of the current, will go to colonize other points of the bank, thereby extending the territory of the species.
Then the fruit will fall in turn and will ultimately contribute to the overall balance of the aquatic environment of which it is inseparable in nature.
Very rich in humins, humic acids, and tannins, this small cone releases organic acidifying substances that gently acidify the water, less harshly than peat, for example. The tannins slightly amber the water, giving it this natural touch, also less dark than with peat.
These complex compounds limit the proliferation of many pathogens, fungal or bacterial, and promote spawning. They protect the eggs from mold, making them popular among killifish owners, for example.
Finally, the tiny fry or shrimp larvae will find refuge and cover, well protected between the bristly scales.
Generally, one cone is counted for 10 liters, to be placed directly in the aquarium, depending on the desired effect. To be renewed approximately every month, the old cones are left in place, adding a very natural touch to the decor.

No need to wash them or especially to boil them, in order not to lose some of their properties.

50 cones are suitable for a 100-liter aquarium for 5 months, average dose to be adjusted according to the desired effect.
