(set of 6 planorbids)

Our smallest snail, absolutely tiny: an ideal rarity for nanobacs, ponds, and poubellariums.

The planorbids (Gyraudus sp.) are tiny snails related to the ramshorn snails.
The adult size of this species does not exceed 5 mm in diameter and 1 mm in thickness!

The planorbids has the shape of an extremely flat ramshorn snail, which seems to drag its shell on the side. The shell is translucent when backlit.

In nature, this little snail can be eaten by sufficiently large fish. That is why it is ideal in a nano tank, or in a natural aquarium without fish, or even for cleaning a fry tank.

"It will also be at home in a poubellarium as well as in a pond, where filamentous algae will serve both as food and as a hiding place."
He indeed has no difficulty spending the winter outside in our latitudes.

Extremely rare in aquariums, it is practically unavailable in the market because its tiny adult size prevents any industrial breeding!

Unlike its close relative the Anisus, it is not protected. However, I would ask you not to release it into the wild.
Even if this species is not the Asian species (G. Sinensis, classified as invasive), a natural aquarium enthusiast is always cautious and respectful of our ecosystems...

The planorbids is a natural part of the diet of Tetraodons and other fish large enough to swallow it.

This snail is pulmonary, but has lost over the course of evolution the need to breathe at the surface by managing through its skin.
Carrier of both sexes (hermaphrodite) like the ramshorn snail, it is enough for two individuals, any of them, to mate for each to then lay a very large number of eggs invisible to the naked eye. It thus compensates for its vulnerability to predators by the number of its offspring...

As a detritivore, it feeds on decomposing waste and algae, never touching the plants. Given its size, its impact is obviously very limited in a large aquarium, but its discreet presence is always a pleasant sight.

A strain contains 6 individuals that you will gently acclimatize to their new environment.
