Vallisneria gigantea is the giant among Vallisnerias, with long ribbon-like leaves that quickly reach the surface. In an aquarium, it creates an elegant canopy. Outdoors, its ribbons can turn red in the sun and produce flowers. Its rapid growth makes it an excellent oxygenating plant and a major consumer of nitrates and phosphates, ideal for balancing natural tanks as well as ponds and tubariums.
