ZollaBox Clear Water: natural solution against green water in aquariums
What is the ZollaBox Clear Water?
It is an anti-green water kit based on the plankton food chain: you protect daphnia inside the Zolla'Clear so they filter the microalgae responsible for green water. This way, they can work sheltered from the fish's appetite. Chemical-free, reusable with refills, and delivered with live daphnia, a net, and instructions. Aquazolla innovation (2019).
Why use the ZollaBox Clear Water in a natural aquarium?
- Eliminates green water naturally: daphnia filter the suspended algae that give the water its green color.
- Respects tank balance: zero chemical products, no microbial “shock.” Killing suspended algae is dangerous.
- Turns a problem into a resource: algae feed the daphnia, which in turn provide live food for the fish. Green water ultimately feeds the fish!
- Ecological, economical, and reusable: carefully store the Zolla'Clear after use and restart with a simple daphnia refill if needed.
- Simple and educational: show the plankton chain “in real life.”
Who is the ZollaBox Clear Water for?
- Aquarists facing green water in community tanks.
- Low-tech, natural tanks and trash aquariums (there is an XL version for ponds, larger).
- People seeking a biological approach rather than using sometimes dangerous biocidal products.
- Educational projects (plankton cycle, ecological balance).
Introduction & usage tips
- Place the Zolla'Clear in the tank and introduce the provided daphnia.
- If needed (fish too restless, current...), attach it to a support (glass, wire) with a clip.
- Let it act: the daphnia gradually filter the green water until it becomes clear again. They reproduce, the older ones die and lay the next generation.
- The time needed varies depending on the intensity of the green water, volume, number of daphnia, temperature, light, etc. Between a few days and a few weeks.
- Close the loop: once the water is clear again, collect daphnia to feed the fish.
- Reuse: store the Zolla'Clear; in case of recurrence, refill ZollaBox Clear Water (new daphnia) and start again.
FAQ - ZollaBox Clear Water
Depending on the algae density and volume, improvement is gradual: the daphnia work continuously until the water becomes clear again.
They are protected inside the Zolla'Clear. Outside the device, fish eat them (this is designed to close the chain at the end). If the fish are too lively and restless, simply secure the Zolla'Clear with a simple clip (like a clothespin...), for example on the glass. This way, they won’t be able to knock it over!
Yes: it is reusable. Store it carefully after use, and simply get a refill to add daphnia if it needs to be used again.
No toxicity, no microbial imbalance, and no water changes because a mass of algae was killed at once. This is the biological way. Algae are transformed into live daphnia, not into dead waste that heavily pollutes the aquarium. No plants suffer.
Yes, the planktonic logic applies in aquariums as well as in ponds. In this case, as with very large aquariums, prefer the ZollaBox Clear Water XL, better suited for large volumes.
